Microsoft’s $75 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard cleared its final U.S. regulatory hurdle as the FTC dropped its challenge, capping a nearly two-year legal battle.

The Federal Trade Commission announced plans Thursday to drop a Biden-era case against Microsoft over its $69 billion acquisition of game-maker Activision Blizzard, a decision the regulator said now best serves the public interest.

The FTC had previously argued that the Activision Blizzard acquisition would give Microsoft an unfair edge in the gaming industry.
