BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a teenager and her grandmother. Officers were called to the 5500 block of St. Gerard Avenue around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2.

One person was killed in a shooting in the 5400 block of Longfellow Drive in Baton Rouge on Wednesday afternoon, a police spokesperson said. Terry Wayne Jones, 35, was shot multiple times around 3:24 p.m. and died at the scene, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the area after an argument between Jackson and two women led to shots being fired.

According to the police, around 3:20 p.m., detectives were responding to a reported shooting in the 5400 block of Longfellow Drive. Upon arrival, detectives found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as Terry Wayne Jones, 35.

A man from Stuart was killed after being stabbed in a park on New Year's Day. The Stuart Police Department (SPD) said officers responded to a report of a stabbing at Smith Turner Park, at 599 SE Martin Luther King Jr.
