Most people who are allergic to cats aren’t reacting to the fur—they’re reacting to a protein in cat saliva called Fel d 1.

The Oak Ridge Fire near Window Rock, Arizona, has burned over 1,800 acres and was 0% contained, as of June 29, 2025.

More cats on the same property in Hunterdon County, New Jersey have tested positive for bird flu. There are now six cats with confirmed cases of bird flu.

"The mortality rate for birds of prey who have contracted HPAI (highly pathogenic Avian Influenza) is between 90-100%," according to Humane Indiana officials.
