Indian stock indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty50 declined approximately 1 per cent intraday on Thursday as major companies like HDFC B

TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Infosys and Bajaj Finserve were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, Ultratech cement, SBI and Sun Pharma

Except Nifty IT, all the sectoral gauges on the National Stock Exchange fell, with the Nifty Media, Realty and PSU Bank falling the most. The broader markets underperformed the benchmark indices as the BSE MidCap and SmallCap ended 2.13% and 2.4% down respectively.

The BSE Sensex and Nifty50, India’s key equity benchmarks, opened lower on Thursday. The BSE Sensex traded below the 78,000 mark, while the Nifty50 was under 23,650. At 10 am, the Sensex dropped by 235.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a negative start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,583 level, a discount of nearly 63 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex failed to maintain their early momentum on Friday, slipping into the red for the third consecutive session as 12 out of 13 sectoral indices saw losses, primarily due to declines in public sector banks and metals.

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a drop of 0.54%, settling at 23,442 points, while the Sensex wrapped up the session with a drop of 0.40%, at the 77,312 level. It was the mid- and small-cap stocks that continued to be hammered by investors sharply in Friday's session.
