Texas inspectors approved Camp Mystic’s emergency plan just two days before devastating floods killed over 27 people, mostly children, at the Texas summer camp.

On Tuesday, a sign that reads “Jesus Wept” was propped up on debris by the riverbank next to the camp.

Camp staff went to bed following what seemed like routine flood warnings. Within hours, they were fighting for survival. “Chaos struck almost instantaneously.”
