Country music legend Ray Stevens underwent surgery on Monday after suffering a heart attack late last week, and according to the most recent update he appears to be recovering well.

Ray Stevens is recovering from a heart attack shortly after the 86-year-old country music legend came out of retirement. The Country Hall of Fame member suffered “a mild heart attack” last Friday, July 4, according to a post on Stevens’ official Instagram.

Taste of Country reports the country music legend was admitted to a Nashville hospital after he began experiencing chest pain. He underwent a heart catheterization procedure, citing a statement from his publicity team, that confirmed that he’d had a heart attack.
