A semi-truck carrying malt and traveling westbound on Interstate 80 in the Sierra burst into flames on Thursday morning, CHP Truckee said. At 5:43 a.m., while working up to Donner Pass, the semi-truck’s driver noticed a problem with the vehicle and pulled over.

Trucks were held at the Nevada-California border due to a truck fire at the Donner Summit. Chains are still required eastbound from Kingvale to Truckee I-80 and westbound from Truckee to Rainbow, Caltrans said.
