Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said 307 of his country's service personnel returned home on Saturday in a prisoner exchange agreed with Russia.

Russia and Ukraine began their largest exchange of prisoners of war on Friday, with each side returning 390 soldiers and civilians, according to both governments. More swaps were expected on Saturday and Sunday, as the two countries have committed to exchange 1,000 prisoners each.

For three years, two months and 19 days, Ellia Derektorenko waited in agony for any word from her husband, Andrii, a captured Ukrainian soldier. She received only one letter, in 2022, confirming that he was alive and in a Russian prison.
