Thousands of workers at Fenway Park might go on strike for the first time ever for higher pay, the UNITE HERE Local 26 union announced.

The Boston Red Sox have been battered by rain in recent days, and the weather got even worse on Saturday, delaying game one of a doubleheader with the Baltimore Orioles.

This week, the union representing over 1,000 concession workers at the ballpark — from beer sellers to cooks to souvenir vendors — announced plans to vote on authorizing a strike in June. It would be the first-ever labor strike at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox lost to the Orioles, 5-1, at Fenway Park on Sunday to split the series against Baltimore. Walker Buehler allowed two earned runs over five innings of work and Jarren Duran was 4 for 5, but the rest of the Sox struggled to deliver clutch hits and an ugly series of errors handed Baltimore two extra runs in the eighth.
