Jason Arrington was pulled over on 13 December because officers said he went through a red light in the Jacksonville area. Bodycam video shows him complying with a request to step out of the vehicle.

The shooting happened near the intersection of 27th Street and Main Street on Dec. 13 during a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Jason Arrington, who police say ran a red light. Arrington notified Officer S. Lowry he was carrying a pistol and was directed to step out of his vehicle.

Police Officer Charged with 'Incompetence' After Accidentally Shooting Driver with His Own Gun
The video shows that after being pulled over, Arrington told Officer Shaun Lowry that he had a gun on him. Florida state law allows a person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm with a valid concealed weapons license or without a concealed weapons license, provided that the criteria for obtaining a license are met.
