President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Energy, Chris Wright, who will play a key role in the incoming administration boosting domestic oil and gas production, faced fairly straightforward questions in his confirmation hearing Wednesday and appeared to have bipartisan support.

Wright, the founder of a fracking firm, testified that he would back all forms of low-carbon energy as well as gas, oil and coal.

Chris Wright, President-elect Trump's nominee to lead the Energy Department, will celebrate his 60th birthday Wednesday by introducing himself to senators as a "science geek, turned tech nerd, turned lifelong energy entrepreneur."
