Texas will experience wind gusts of up to 55 mph in parts on Wednesday, while relative humidity will plummet to as low as six percent.

In Oklahoma, red flag warnings are issued when conditions such as high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds create a heightened risk of wildfires, urging residents to take extra precautions.

Many wildfires in eastern Oklahoma have already sparked this March, and this week, the state will begin moving toward ‘extreme’ wildfire level risk.

The National Weather Service has placed Wichita Falls and the surrounding area in a red flag warning for Friday, warning of wind gusts up to 70 mph in the area.

Nearly all of western Kansas, including Ellis County, is in a Red Flag Warning today, issued by the National Weather Service in Dodge City. The warning is for 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday as high wind and low relative humidity combine for critical fire conditions.
