The Gamecocks (44-16) were just one out away from its first Women’s College World Series appearance in 28 seasons but UCLA's four-run rally in the seventh inning highlighted by a walk-off home run to win 5-4 on May 24 forced a Game 3 in the Columbia Super Regional.
The No. 8 Gamecocks lost 5-0 to No. 9 UCLA on Sunday in game three of the Columbia Super Regional at Carolina Softball Stadium. With the win, the Bruins advance to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. The Gamecocks were trying to return to the WCWS for the first time since 1997.
