As deaths from catastrophic Texas flooding surpassed 100 on Monday, local officials in one of the hardest-hit counties have still revealed little about what, if any, actions they took to safeguard residents,

Kerr County, Texas Judge Rob Kelly told a reporter that the county does not have a warning system, saying that "no one knew this kind of flood was coming."

Emergency responders continue to search for missing people and local police said efforts have been slowed by "sightseers who are making things worse."

Authorities on Sunday were in a desperate search to find those still missing after historic flash floods swept across central Texas — including 10 children from a beloved all-girls camp — as the death toll rose and forecasters warned of more rain.

President Donald Trump said he would travel to Texas on Friday, a trip that will allow him to survey first-hand the devastation from extreme floods that have left at least 100 people dead and scores still missing.

Kerr County, Texas and national search and rescue operations will continue Monday around the Guadalupe River, where families wait for news of their loved ones.

The Texas summer camp where children died in flooding is in an area meteorologists refer to as "Flash Flood Alley."
