In a tragic incident, Nashville businessman and a treasured member of the community, William H. Freeman, popularly known as Bill Freeman, passed away on November 16, 2024.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Billionaire businessman Bill Freeman has died. Freeman's son, who is a state representative from Nashville, confirmed the passing. His cause of death is not known at this time.

According his son Bob Freeman, Freeman died Sunday night. He was 73. Freeman — a longtime supporter of local journalism and a candidate for mayor in 2015 — teamed with friend and business partner Jimmy Webb to purchase the Scene and sister publications Nashville Post and Nfocus in 2018 via FW Publishing. Webb died in 2019.
