Moments after losing cornerback Carlton Davis III to the New England Patriots, the Detroit Lions have reportedly found a replacement in D.J. Reed.
Veteran Carlton Davis III, who joined the Lions via trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last offseason, has agreed to a monster three-year deal worth up to $60 million (with $34.5 million guaranteed) with the New England Patriots, according to multiple reports.
The previous time that Carlton Davis approached NFL free agency, the cornerback never made it to the open market. Instead, the former Auburn defensive back signed a three-year contract extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Davis doesn't think Detroit will make an aggressive effort to bring him back. He is looking to be paid like a "top 10 or top 15 cornerback."
