MINNEAPOLIS — Guardians top draft pick Travis Bazzana will miss about two months with an internal oblique strain, the team announced Tuesday. Bazzana, 22, suffered the injury May 14 during a game against the Chesapeake Baysox in Bowie, Maryland. He underwent an MRI this week and was diagnosed with the strain by Cleveland’s physician group.
Gleyber Torres came to Detroit during the offseason, and he has been a helpful addition to the team. Early in Thursday's game, he hit a hard line drive to center field, and he came up limping on his way to first base. The ball was caught in the outfield, and Torres didn't end up going back in the game.
DETROIT — Guardians starter Ben Lively will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in the coming days, ending the 2025 season for a journeyman pitcher who had found a home in Cleveland’s rotation. Lively is expected to miss 12 to 16 months.
