Public safety officials said one person was taken to Maine Medical Center and underwent surgery but was expected to survive.

Police are looking for 20-year-old Ahmed Basheer Awad, who they say is the suspect in Wednesday afternoon's shooting at the Maine Mall in South Portland.

The Maine Mall in South Portland was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a shooting. South Portland police confirmed around 4:30 p.m. they were searching the mall for a person suspected of shooting someone else inside the mall. They said a preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was an isolated incident.
