Google’s Gemini AI has steadily made its way to the best of its software suite, from native Android integrations to interoperability with Workspace apps such as Gmail and Docs. However, some of the most advanced Gemini features have remained locked behind a subscription paywall.

Google is taking Gemini to the next level and giving users more for free, as the company announced new upgrades today (March 13) aimed to make Gemini even more useful and personal. Upgrades include tailoring the chatbot’s responses based on users’ search history, enhancing deep research and improving its connectivity with Google’s suite of apps.

Google is rolling out a slew of updates for its Gemini AI services. This time, the improvements are focused on free users, who can now access features like Gems and Deep Research, which were previously behind a paywall.

The Gemini app picks up a new "personalization" experimental feature, which lets the AI scour your Google app/service history for "tailored" responses. Google is also letting users try out its latest Deep Research updates in Gemini, but only for a limited time a month.

Noting the latest batch of updates Google rolled out to Gemini today, the pace of innovation is in this space is pretty staggering; and it has potential to change how we interact with much of the tech we use every single day.
