Both Google Docs and Microsoft Word let you create and edit documents on the web, for free. Find out how they compare in terms of formatting, templates, export options, and other features.

Word has several menu options across the top of the page, and the first is the "File" option on the left. On the web app, if I click on "File," a drop-down menu appears with at least ten options, many of which expand when you hover over them. In the Microsoft Word app, the "File" tab takes you to a dashboard with even more menu options.

Google Docs has introduced a document tabs feature similar to web browsers, where you can organize lengthy documents by creating multiple sections with distinct titles and IDs.
