Egg prices cooled significantly in June, deviating from an overall rise in prices. The price of eggs climbed 27% over the year ending in June, which marked a slowdown from 41% year-over-year growth in May. Wholesale prices were unchanged in June and showed only a mild effect from U.S. tariffs, adding to the growing view that trade wars won’t lead to a big increase in inflation.

Statistics Canada says the annual inflation rate rose to 1.9 per cent in June, up from 1.7 per cent in May, as consumers paid for more new and used vehicles.
