The summer single, one of several to come from a feud with fellow rapper Drake, was one of the biggest songs of 2024, hitting the top of Billboard's Hot 100.

Drake is suing his record label for spreading a “false and malicious narrative” when it released and promoted Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”

Drake is battling his own record label over a song that is the lynchpin of a now legendary hip-hop feud.

Drake filed a lawsuit Tuesday against his and Kendrick Lamar’s record label Universal Music Group, claiming Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” defamed Drake by calling him a “certified pedophile”—a major escalation of the months-long feud between the two rappers.

Drake's legal team said Universal Music Group used its resources to "elevate a dangerous and inflammatory message that was designed to assassinate Drake’s character."

In a federal lawsuit on Wednesday, Drake accused Universal Music Group of putting his life and reputation at risk by releasing and promoting the popular diss track.

Drake has scrapped a legal case against Universal Music and Spotify, in which he accused the companies of conspiring to boost the streams of Kendrick Lamar's diss track against him, Not Like Us. The Canadian star took action last November,

The rapper alleges the label promoted “Not Like Us” to harm him and drive profits.

Drake sued his longtime label on Wednesday, accusing Universal Music Group of defamation for promoting Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," saying the song's false accusation that the Canadian rapper is a pedophile has put him and his family in danger.

Then on Wednesday, news broke that the Toronto superstar decided to file a straight-up defamation lawsuit against his current and longtime parent record company, Universal Music Group. Drake claims UMG benefited and helped promote a “false and malicious narrative” and chose “corporate greed over the safety and well-being of its artists.
