Arion Kurtaj from Oxford, who is autistic, was a key member of international gang Lapsus$. The gang's attacks on tech giants including Uber, Nvidia and Rockstar Games cost the firms nearly $10m.

He worked with Kurtaj and other members of Lapsus$ to hack tech giant Nvidia and phone company BT/EE and steal data before demanding a four million dollar ransom, which was not paid.

Kurtaj also hacked chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA.O) in February 2022, taking around one terabyte of data, releasing about 80 gigabytes and threatening to publish the rest.

Two hackers who belonged to the Lapsus$ gang have been convicted of breaching numerous high-profile targets, including Nvidia, Rockstar Games, and Uber.

The 17-year-old was found guilty of hacking, fraud, and blackmail against Nvidia and cleared over two other counts against EE. He had previously plead guilty to two charges relating to the BT hacks.

Case in point: the teens are said to have hacked some of their biggest targets—including Rockstar Games, Uber, and Nvidia—while they were out on bail for their previous hacking crimes.

That did not deter the duo who continued hacking with Lapsus$ and successfully breached Nvidia, a Silicon Valley tech giant that makes chips for artificial intelligence chatbots, in February 2022.
