The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party will have a majority in the Minnesota Senate once again after their candidate won a special election in a Minneapolis district on Tuesday. Candidate Doron Clark held an overwhelming lead in election results late Tuesday in a DFL-dominated district.

A special election for a Minneapolis state Senate seat is set to break a tie in that chamber as the state House remains paralyzed due to a partisan impasse over power.

After two weeks of successful power-sharing, the Senate will revert to a majority following Tuesday’s special election. The vacancy was created following the Dec. 28 death of Sen. Kate Dziedzic.
