Film director, screenwriter, and producer Ram Gopal Varma commented on the killing of former minister Baba Siddique on Monday, following the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's claim of responsibility for the high-profile murder,

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reacted to the shocking death of former Maharashtra MLA and National Congress Party leader Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Mumbai's Bandra on Saturday (October 12).

By the dawn of this century, most of the underworld gangs in Mumbai, which thrived on fear in the '80s and '90s, had been silenced.

In the social media post, Lonkar claimed that Baba Siddique had been killed because he was linked to India's most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim and was close to Salman Khan.

Police said Lonkar, who was arrested earlier this year for supplying weapons, was in direct contact with Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Jail.

The Mumbai Police on Sunday said they are investigating all potential angles in the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, including gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's angle and actor Salman Khan.

While the accused, Shubham Lonkar, is absconding, his brother Pravin has been arrested in connection with the case, Mumbai Police said.
