President Donald Trump said Tuesday night that a suspect in the 2021 attack on the Kabul airport that killed 13 U.S. service members and dozens of Afghans has been captured and was being extradited to the United States.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday evening that the US has apprehended a “top terrorist” involved in the 2021 bombing at Kabul airport’s Abbey Gate in Afghanistan where 13 US service members and at least 170 Afghan civilians were killed.

Sharifullah was arrested in 2019 by the U.S.-backed Afghan government at the time but escaped from prison on Aug. 15, 2021, as the Taliban took Kabul.
