The US has deported immigrants from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba and Yemen to Eswatini in Southern Africa following a recent Supreme Court ruling on third country deportations.

The United States has deported five individuals from Vietnam, Jamaica, Cuba, Yemen and Laos to Eswatini, a small southern African nation governed by a king who still holds absolute power.

Immigration expert Professor Loren Landau of Wits University says it is too early for South Africa to be concerned about potential fallout, after the US the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that a deportation flight carrying immigrants from multiple countries landed in Eswatini.

The U.S. sent five men to Eswatini, previously called Swaziland, is a country of about 1.2 million people between South Africa and Mozambique. It is one of the world’s last remaining absolute
