Chicagoans are still mourning the closure of ShowPlace ICON Theatre in the South Loop, which shut down this past summer after 15 years of delivering locals a luxury-like movie-going experience.

AMC Theatres will open its latest Chicago movie theater in the South Loop, replacing the former ShowPlace Icon Theatre that closed this summer.

AMC Theatres has plans to implement changes at several of its theaters in the U.S. and in Europe over the next few years that will affect audience members’ movie-going experiences.
