Calls to reopen the pub known as the ‘birthplace’ of Black Sabbath have intensified once more following the band’s momentous farewell show. Thousands of rock fans from across the world descended on Birmingham last weekend to say goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath as they took to the stage at Villa Park.
After Metallica’s performance, Osbourne, 76, came out on stage and performed a five-song set by himself, before he was joined by his former bandmates Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler for four of the group’s songs.
With their all-day Back To The Beginning show taking place at Villa Park in the city on July 5, 2025, the metal heroes posed for a group photo at the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street in the city centre. They also added their signatures to the artwork.
Metal fans across the world were not missing Black Sabbath's farewell, no matter how far away they live. From Bulgaria and France to Canada and Switzerland, BirminghamLive spoke to an abundance of international fans over the weekend. One person who travelled among the furthest was Valentino Turigutti who travelled 24 hours from Mendoza, Argentina.
