In an interview this week, the conservative actor, who starred as the cape-wearing hero on “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997, complained that he thinks Gunn has made the character too “woke” due to today’s political climate.
James Gunn’s Superman finally opens in wide release today, and the expectations for the film are quite significant. It’s been reported that the movie needs to have a pretty significant box office take in order to be a financial success.
In an interview with TMZ, Cain expressed concern that the upcoming movie had lost the values he associated with the character, particularly “truth, justice, and the American way.” This is only one of the many versions of the superhero’s slogan, which has not always included “the American way.”
