Germany on Monday night rejected Sir Keir Starmer’s call for Europe to step up and deploy troops to Ukraine as part of any peace deal.

The German government has expressed its willingness to send troops to support a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, Sky News reports. According to the agency, a representative of the German Ministry of Defense stated that Germany "will not shy away" from deploying troops to Ukraine if the appropriate framework is agreed upon.

Germany has rejected Keir Starmer's peace plan for Britain to deploy troops to Ukraine to support any proposed peacekeeping deal. The Prime Minister had declared that the UK should take centre stage in post-war security guarantees for Ukraine - which would involve putting British troops "in harm's way" to police a potential ceasefire.
