The overnight storms in central Iowa led to a train derailment in Mitchellville. According to Mitchellville police, three empty train cars were awaiting a grain shipment at a nearby co-op. They were pushed about 200 feet down the track due to the storm's strong winds.
Omaha's Weather Leader has declared Friday an impact weather day with potential for scattered storms. Better chance for any strong to severe storms with strong wind and hail potential will be in northwest Missouri and southern Iowa. That's where the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk area for severe activity as of Friday morning.
