Family-owned Central Drug Store in San Francisco closes its doors after serving the community since the early 1900s, with owner Jerry Tonelli retiring after 50 years.

Owner Jerry Tonelli announced he will be retiring. "This is my father here, Dino Tonelli. He started working here in 1949 after he graduated from pharmacy school at UCSF.

Central Drug Store, a community staple in San Francisco's Excelsior District since 1908, will permanently shut down at the end of the day on July 15, 2025.
