Groups of students from five of the district’s high schools then met at a Chicken Express parking lot on Timberland Boulevard near Timber Creek High School at 10:30 a.m., rallying for their right to have a say in the district’s future.

A few dozen students at high schools in Keller walked out of class Friday over the district’s proposal to split apart. Keller ISD says it is “addressing unprecedented financial challenges” by considering a plan to split into two.

Johnson said at a Jan. 16 special meeting that she had already written her letter of resignation and would submit it if she did not agree with how the process to split the district plays out.

"It is very clearly trying to divide our district along lines of race and class. We've already fought so many battles with this Board," said Anderson-Himmelspach.
