All is set for the swearing in ceremony of Prof Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy President of Kenya on Saturday October 19. The event will take place at the Uhuru Gardens along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi. The military will host the event and the Chief Justice or her Deputy are expected to preside over the event.

Kenya’s President William Ruto selected interior minister Kithure Kindiki as his new deputy president on Friday,.This comes just one day after the Senate voted to impeach Ruto’s previous deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

Should the nomination pass the parliament’s vote, Kindiki will replace impeached Rigathi Gachagua. Currently Kenya’s interior minister, Kindiki came under fire due to police’s treatment of the protests in the country.
