Dangerously cold temperatures have prompted hundreds of school districts across Southeast Michigan to close for Tuesday, with some also announcing closures for Wednesday. A cold weather advisory is in effect through Wednesday across the region.

As temperatures remain below zero, with the wind making it even colder, hundreds of schools are closed. The Wednesday closures started pouring in on Monday, with many districts electing to cancel classes both Tuesday and Wednesday due to the forecasted blast of cold that won't subside until later this week.

Genesee County is under a Cold Weather Advisory until noon Wednesday, Jan. 22 as the region faces dangerously low wind chills of 15 to 20 degrees below zero.
