Trump has appointed the grandmother he pardoned in his first term to a position that would make recommendations for other acts of clemency.

"This is my mission — to really give voice to the voiceless ... to help those who are unseen to be seen," said Alice Marie Johnson.

President Trump offered clemency to grandmother Alice Johnson in 2018 while she was serving prison time for nonviolent drug-related offenses.
