Penguins call-up Matt Nieto and Vasily Ponomarev, send Joel Blomqvist back to AHL
The Penguins announced a couple of roster moves on Thursday. Forwards Matt Nieto (conditioning loan) and Vasily Ponomarev are coming up from the AHL. To help make space, goalie Joel Blomqvist is going down.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled forwards Matt Nieto and Vasily Ponomarev from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. In a corresponding transaction, rookie goaltender Joel Blomqvist was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Penguins' Vasily Ponomarev: Recalled by Pittsburgh
Ponomarev was sent to the minors at the end of October after being taken off the injured non-roster list, but he'll rejoin the Penguins to provide additional depth as the team deals with multiple injuries. He made two NHL appearances for Carolina last year and tallied a goal and an assist while averaging 9:41 of ice time.
