A packaging failure with Great Value Chicken Broth has caused Walmart to recall over 2,000 cases of the popular chicken broth brand sold in nine states across the country.

Just over 2,000 cases of chicken broth sold at Walmart have been recalled due to a packaging issue that could lead to product spoilage, a Walmart spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY Monday morning.

Chicken broth sold by Walmart in several states, including Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas has been classified as a Class II recall.

About 12,138 cartons of Walmart’s Great Value Chicken Broth were recalled in mid-December because spoilage might have befouled the broth.

Treehouse Foods blamed a packaging problem. The recalled Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth went to Texas, Missouri, Georgia and six other states.
