Efforts to battle mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus in Pennsylvania continue this week as the Bucks County Department of Health plans to spray multiple areas in Lower Makefield Township.

The Vanderburgh County Health Department has reported the first case of West Nile Virus in the county. Officials are advising the public to take precautions against mosquito bites due to the risk of mosquitoes transmitting the disease progressing through the rest of the summer.

West Nile virus is most commonly spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. More cases are expected as mosquito season continues.
