A man from San Diego drowned in the Colorado River near Yuma, Arizona, on Saturday after jumping in the water to save two boys who were caught in the river’s current.

A group of people were at the Horseshoe Island sandbar when two children were pulled off the shallows by the current, the Sheriff's Office said.

On Saturday, July 5, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a possible drowning in the river near Hidden Shores Resort, north of the City of Yuma.
