If you win an auction (known as a "lot"), most brokers will require a cash or wire transfer of the full amount with in 24 hours.

Two big complaints were actual quality of the vehicles vs description of the quality of the vehicles, and unintelligible fee schedules. I figured I could do something about the latter, so I spent a couple minutes putting together a fee calculator.

WEBFeb 6, 2017 · Copart uses an online automated bidding system. Apparently they even have computers in their lobbies to bid from. I bought from the comfort of my home. You can place a max bid and Copart will use it to outbid anyone else with lower bids, but no higher. The bidding is performed in stages.

Once I finally won an auction, for real-sies, my broker paid Copart and sent me an invoice. It included the auction amount, Copart fees, and broker fees. No surprises.

WEBApr 6, 2024 · I went with a 2004 Mach 1 with 38K miles bought from the Copart auction site. For about $6K all in with delivery to my Uncle's shop, I got the best donor as 2004 is the last year that most everything from the Mustang is usable.
Be careful with coparts - Runs and Drives :)
WEBJul 16, 2013 · The engine can be completely blown to bits, but you could still move it on a good battery. The starter and flywheel is pretty protected behind the engine. WEBApr 4, 2022 · The auction site Copart makes it easy to find specific year and model cars coming up for auction. I have bought two donors through Copart. The process is not bad, but stay away from Autobidmaster as your broker. I was very fortunate to find a 2017 Mustang GT donor in 2017 at a Copart auction in CA.

WEBDec 12, 2013 · When i go to register the kit car, the State Patrol is going to want the donor vehicle information. How would i go about registering the kit car with the motor/trans from the donor car when im technically not a registered wrecker.
