I own both of these firearms and never experienced issues myself, but others reportedly did with Glock stepping in to rectify a solution. Sep 18, 2016 · The G17 and G34 are the same frame, only the barrel and slide are longer on the G34. The slide has a cutout to maintain the nearly the same mass as the G17, however the G34 is slightly heavier overall, cycles a tad slower, but has a longer sight radius, which is a small advantage for targets further out.

Nov 16, 2017 · So I purchased my first gun and it’s ready for pick-up tomorrow. The current dilema I’m in is what ammo to feed this thing. It’s a G17 Gen 3 (9mm) in OD Green. I have seen plenty of reviews suggesting the first 500 or so fed should be Winchester Ranger 124gr. Others suggest Federal HST’s.

Jan 11, 2023 · I have plenty of G17 17-round mags, and would appreciate info on how to permanently reduce their capacity to 15 rounds. (Has to be permanent modification to be legal.) I could sell them to someone in a state where they are still legal and buy new 15-rounders, but I expect I'd get hosed on the prices even if I could find the 15-rounders.

Oct 24, 2021 · The G17 and G34 are the same gun except for the longer upper on a G34. You can always put an extended slide stop and 3.5lb connector on a G17. For competition, there is no advantage as most shots in USPSA and IDPA are 3-10 yards, with an occasional target at 15-18 yards. The increase in sight radius is too small to mean anything.

Jun 1, 2015 · When you get the 9mm conversion barrel, also pick up some G17 mags to properly handle the slightly smaller rounds. I did this with my Glock 23 when I got the Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel. I put orange floor plates on the G19 mags to more easily differentiate them from the regular .40 mags.

Oct 1, 2013 · Thanks. Most likely will end up with the G19 but I figured I'd ask about the G17. My 18yr old daughter tried shooting the 40 and hated it. She hasn't shot the nano, but I don't think it's any better due to the size. The gun will be mostly my play toy, but it will be their go-to weapon if I am not home, so I want them to be comfortable with it.
