If you're willing to fully commit, I would start with Rorona, it's the first game of the new Ateliers (before Rorona, Atelier games were much more like old-school JRPGs). If you don't want to go that far back, I would start with Sophie (1). If you just want to check it out, go with Ryza 1.

WEBJun 16, 2021 · all the series are separate from each other, so start anywhere, just don't skip to the middle of a series or trilogy. Atelier Ryza. Yeah, like people said, the series has loosely connected trilogies, but the trilogies have no relation to each other. I'd say it's easier to begin at the start of one of the trilogies.

WEBMay 28, 2021 · Short answer: No. Play what you want, they are all independent. Ryza 1 before 2 is my recommendation but even that isn't necessary. Long answer: The games are (mostly) released in loose triologies. Each triology is completely independent.
Which Atelier games is the best in term of gameplay or combat?
WEBMay 24, 2023 · Secret (or Ryza) subseries: Ryza 1, 2 and 3. The games tend to be lighter on plot, with a huge focus on gathering and alchemy (the crafting system). Apart from those we have the PS2 games, Atelier Iris (3 games that are closer to traditional JRPGs from what I understand) and Mana Khemia (2 games).
Are the Atelier games good? Or do people just like the art?
WEBSep 17, 2022 · Even if Ryza didn't get the buzz cuz of the character's looks, it's not like there series would have stopped. Ryza probably just wouldn't have gotten 3 games as fast. Like the series is doing good enough that Atelier Sophie, an older PS4 game, got a sequel seven years after the release despite several new entries between then and now.
