Oct 5, 2022 · Byrna Non-lethal pistols: thoughts? So I usually watch youtube with an adblocker, but once in a while I do see youtube ads. I saw one today for something called Byrna. It appears to be a line of self-defense weapons that are non-lethal, and seem to fire either kinetic rounds, pepper spray rounds, or both.
Has anyone ever used their Byrna SD in a real life situation?

Barely leaves a mark through a jacket, small welt if hit on the skin. Throwing the gun is honestly more damaging. The pepper balls use a powder, and you basically have to stand in the cloud for it to have any effect. Low shots, a running target, or even a bit of breeze means the target doesn't get exposed at all.

Feb 26, 2024 · These rounds aren’t bore matched to the barrel but work great still. Heavier than Byrna rounds for increased impact and damage (4.6 grams vs byrna kinetics 3 grams). Cheap nylon rounds also work great despite what some say but i only use them for practice. I stick with byrna kinetics in the SDXL.

Jul 9, 2020 · Many people jump immediately to worst case scenarios like mistaking the Bryna for a gun. The market for home defense-no gun is quite large and this is a viable option. I speculate stun guns, co2 powered non lethal guns, tazers and the like will see significant growth in the upcoming years.

Jul 10, 2022 · Im not sure how effective those are I've never looked into them. Non/Less lethal has it's place but if the situation is life or death then I would not depend on them. at least not as my first choice. And there is one critical problem for these guns. Looking at their site it looks like the standard SD Gun runs $399.

Yes. In jersey, people use them as less lethals in their cars and homes. For concealed Carry ive seen once or twice but tasers are still used more with key chain pepper spray. The market for this is people who noticed that pepper balls worked during the blm protests.

Mar 8, 2023 · Typically use it for home and self defense. The byrna sd on its own is underpowered at only 11 or so joules. However its the most functional less lethal ive been able to experience. The LE is at 16 joules and way too expensive. If you are in law enforcement or securities then the LE makes sense.
