Why do so many people hate the term "Grey/Gray Jedi" so much?

The Force user is ether a darksider (the Knights of Ren, the Nightsisters, etc) or a lightsider (Ahsoka Tano, Leia, etc). There’s no grey area.

The Jedi philosophy usually, but not always lead to the Light side, the Sith philosophy to the Dark side. But that does not mean that Jedi cant do shitty things and that Sith cant to good things.

That is, there is no such thing as a "grey" Jedi. Being "Grey" indicates that one has an ambivalent attitude towards the dark side. The Jedi do NOT regard the dark side of the Force in such a manner. Meaning, the Jedi seek balance. The Light side of the Force works in tandem with the natural ebb and flow of the Force.

In Legends Grey Jedi was a term used to describe a Jedi who didn’t always follow the orders of the Council. Not a dark and light side Force user. Obi-Wan tells Qui-Gon to follow the Code and Qui-Gon says he’ll do what he must. That makes him a Grey Jedi. A Bokken Jedi is someone trained in the Jedi way outside the Temple system.
