Honestly, there is no match up you really "win", some are just easier to deal with in lane than other. After laning phase champs like irelia or fizz are actually easy to deal with in teamfights.

It takes him ages to kill promoted siege minions. Level 1 and 2 his E has around 12 seconds cooldown iirc. Attack him after he casts it. The reason Irelia is a popular counter to Malz is because her Q can easily clear Malz's voidlings. During laning phase, focus on taking out his voidlings, then follow up with your own pressure if he's within range. Malz will usually E>W or Q>E>W all the time, at which point his vulnerable until his CD finishes.

TL;DR: Malzahar is frustating to play as and against. His Voidlings die too easly and he's too easly countered by items. The Voidlings should spawn around E target not on top of Malzahar and he should get his pasive shield back when ulting or his ult mechanic should be changed. All while not buffing his damage.

May 4, 2020 · Malzahar is an immobile champion so if you can get the wave on your side of the lane you can use the extra room to run him down as well. Post level 6 you have to be careful about jungle pressure because malzahar has one of the best setups for a jungler to gank for him. Buying QSS later in the game can get rid of the suppression on his ultimate.
