The camera will automatically delete the CTG files when the corresponding images are erased. CTG files are much smaller than .JPG files and do not contain any image data.

Feb 10, 2020 · Select open folder to view files; You will have to navigate down a couple layers to find your photos; You can copy your photos to whatever folder you wish in your Windows system; You can also delete those files from the SD card while it is in the SD card reader in your computer. That is a lot easier to do there than on the camera

These files allow your computer to index the files and populate them to your computer. The CTG file does not contain any actual image data, rather it just contains an index of the data contained in the folder.

Mar 29, 2011 · The CTG file is an internal catalog file created by Canon. It's very possible that the SD card is bad. Try reformatting the card in windows, via a card reader. Make sure you don't enable the "Quick Format" option. If that doesn't work, try a different SD Card. If that doesn't work, contact Canon for service.
