  1. What thickness or gauge is standard automotive sheetmetal

Mar 30, 2005 · What thickness or gauge is standard automotive sheetmetal on American vehicles, such as a door skin or fender skin. I'm practicing up on my Mig and am trying to determine settings, using ER70-6S and C25. The tables in my texts and on the machine reference gauge. Thanks for any info.

  2. thickness?? - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

whether or not it makes sense really depends on what you plan to weld on that table. if all you're doing is small thin-wall or sheet work then yeah 3/16" is fine. but if you want to clamp a piece of 3/16" wall 3" square tube down so it stays square during welding, then a sheet-metal table top isn't going to cut it.

  3. Welding table top, material choice and thickness

Apr 1, 2014 · Welding table top, material choice and thickness 04-01-2014, 06:26 PM I called a metal supplier near Pittsburgh earlier today about buying a 36" x 24" plate of steel to use as the top for a section of a work bench we are building into my son's new garage.

  4. matching electrode diameter to metal thickness

The suggested plate thickness is far less than what most of us use. The rod size to plate suggestions are often for maximum speed and efficiency. Much of the plate thickness depends on joint prep, such as a V or u groove. 3/32" 6010 is good for 14g up to about 3/16", 1/8" 6010 good for 1/8" up to about 1/4". 5/32" 6010 good for 1/4" up to 1/2".

  5. Millermatic 212 and welding Sheet Metal/AutoBody... Is this too …

Mar 15, 2013 · I would be content with only that welder if that is what my budget and space allowed. It has a high duty cycle and a wide range of thickness that it can weld. I would get some sheet metal that is representative of the body work you want to do and then practice so that you can get a warp free weld.

  7. Mig wire size .030 or .035 - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

Good thread, I just purchased a new MM252 and installed a large spool of .035, C25 gas. I did some practice runs on some 1/4" plate, fillet, butt and vertical, worked just fine (little more spatter then I expected) I then ran some tests on some 1/8" and was not as impressed.

Jan 13, 2015 · Millermatic 200 I bought used and am trying to spot weld sheet metal with it and am having a heck of a time, keeps blowing through the metal. Using .023 wire, 75/25 gas, 3/8" stickout, 25 cfh. I followed the recommended settings and was having blow-through problems so I turned the voltage down to "1" and turned down the wire feed speed and it ...

  10. tungsten size selection - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

For starters on AC with aluminum use 110HZ, 72 EN balance, no pulse, and approximately 1 amp per .001” of material thickness. For example 1/8” =.125 inches or 125 amps. I hope this helps. By the way 3/32” 2% lanthanated does 99% of my work. I use the 1/16” diameter for the thin stuff as in 22 gauge for your work.
