Mar 13, 2024 · The main focus is to use the powerwall 2 as the battery system only. Solar panel to Inverter (eg4 6000xp off-grid) and connect the inverter. Goal is to charge my tesla with solar. I don't have any tesla gateway, site controller, or any other tesla related things as only buying the powerwall 2 from the owner.

The problem with asking if "anyone has powerwalls in their garage" is the rules are in process of changing, so even though people may have them in there now, whether that will be allowed or not going forward depends on your AHJs stance on the codes.

We have installed 10 Powerwall 2 units and were able to integrate them into our existing renewable energy system of PV and Skystream 3.7 wind turbines. The back up generator is now a secondary back-up system which will activate if the batteries shut down during a grid power outage.
